Refreshingly astringent drink
Mmmm …. From the moment I pull out the cork, this hits me with a range of citrusy flavours. There’s the bitterness of zest, the sweet roundness of orange juice, a sharp tang of grapefruit or perhaps kumquats and an underlying darker aromatic note which perhaps is the ginseng. I love this … it has the strong hit of a curacao or triple sec which marries perfectly with tonic, and it’s refreshing to find something intensely citrus that isn’t too sweet. With a good tonic it creates a drink that’s complex and lingers long on the palate. Happily it’s also nearly ten pounds cheaper than the average distilled drink. In my book, that’s a trade worth making. A definite keeper.
