Great VFM Grown-up Muscat
This is a rather successful Californian take on a Muscat wine: still sweet but now a semi-dry as the higher alcohol content (9% versus the typical 5.5% in an Italian Moscatello) makes this wine feel distinctly more grown-up. There is not however any natural spritz, although certain reviewers have reported a hint of it.
Where this wine really wins out is on value for money, coming in at around £7. So if you enjoy some sweetness balanced with a certain acidity in the finish, and can get it well chilled, then this is an attractive wine, especially to eat with spicey Asian foods or as a dessert wine. And in certain circles you’ll even look cool drinking it. Rappers Kanye, Jay-Z, Lil’Kim and Drake and many others have all written about it, the latter singing:
“It’s a celebration
Clap clap bravo
Lobster and shrimp
And a glass of Moscato”
And that’s a good serving suggestion too. Or, try our Moscato Mule cocktail for something even more exciting:
