Spirit of the Highlands
Dry as a bone, herby and with a kick of cayenne somewhere in the mix. This pays homage to its Scottish heritage by having a peaty smokiness that’s almost reminiscent of tobacco. Mixed with tonic, it has depth and warmth and a sophisticated, cut-glass pleasure. If you’re a whisky drinker, this may become your non-alcoholic spirit.
Update: I’m now on my third bottle. It’s become one of my favourite drinks and is universally popular with people I offer it to. Its subtley aromatic taste is a very satisfying late night tipple, filling the mouth with warm smoky flavour. In view of the fact that this has become the bottle I reach for more often than most others, I’ve upgraded its ranking to five stars.
