Just don’t bother
I wonder how long it will be before drink makers realise that making zero (or 0.5%) ABV drinks out of real wines is a complete waste of everyone’s time?
This drink fully demonstrates that point. Our tasting panel liked or disliked it to varying degrees but was united in saying that they could detect nothing in it to suggest that it had ever once been a Riesling wine. The makers claim that a “gentle vacuum distillation has been used, in order to preserve the natural Riesling flavours”. But in reality the process had completely eliminated any aromas or flavours that might have revealed its heritage. Instead we get a watery, rather acidic, grape juice that if well chilled can be refreshing. But so can many other drinks.
I truly recommend that if you want a no-alcohol alternative to wine, then don’t start from wine. There are plenty of delightful real no-alcohol drinks to enjoy – see our Guide “Great Zero ABV Drinks for Wine Drinkers”.
Or this drink may well be available from your high street supplier – we’re sorry we cannot check them all but you might like to.
