Smoky, peaty and very, very moreish
My eyebrows lifted in surprise when I tasted the malty, smoky tones – I was not expecting such a very good approximation to a classic American malt whiskey. It’s smooth, and easy, and almost seems to have a bit of a bite to it. I sat and sipped this neat throughout the evening and got a real buzz from it (I usually try to photograph the bottles before they’re halfway empty but the fact that I failed with this is a tribute to it deliciousness.) The first taste is inevitably a bit more watery than a classic whiskey, because the mouth-filling ethanol bite of a true spirit is missing, but once you’ve got passed that, it’s a revelation.
