Just when you find one great Pinot another one comes along
This is the twin brother of 4.5-star rated The Doctor’s Pinot Noir and comes from the same estate, just this time being created by Beth, the daughter of the good doctors John and Brigid Forrest, who have been leading the New Zealand programme to bring the world naturally fermented wines that come in with lower ABVs but which are uncompromised in taste or feel. At which they excel.
With her Mountain View offering, Beth has created a second version of their unique success at bringing an uncompromised Pinot Noir to the world. Hers is a little rugged, with more tannins, which some drinkers will prefer. Like its brother its is steeped in forest fruit flavours and has smokey undertones
This wine is sold exclusively in the UK by Virgin Wines. I definitely recommend that you buy this offering and The Doctor’s version and see which one pleases you most.
An elegant Pinot Noir, with lifted floral notes, followed by a rick pallet of dark cherry, raisins and a nutty, savoury undertone. Impeccably structured, deliciously round and silky – perfect with roasted Kiwi lamb.
“After 10 years of trials, tribulations, setbacks and breakthroughs we believe we have perfected the technique of making lower alcohol wines without compromising on flavour or mouthfeel. This Pinot is perfect for serious wine drinkers who want to be a little more health conscious.” – Beth Forrest, Winemaker.
