M&S Classics No 7 Vinho Verde

Every summer I am reminded that Vinho Verde is THE perfect summer white – properly dry, enlivened with a light spritz and light – typically 8% to 10% ABV.  M&S have been absolutely right to add this to their well regarded Classics range.  They have chosen a spot-on a blend of Loureiro, Arinto and Trajadura local Portuguese grapes serving up playful green apple, floral and citrus notes, they have got the spritz just right and they are pricing it at an attractive £7 to £8.  My only two quibbles are that it is a little high in ABV at 10% (others are more typically at around 9%) and that it is not (maybe yet) in all their stores and you can only buy it on line from Ocado who have added a hefty £3 mark-up.

But it is vegan.
