This is rather a marmite drink; I’ve given it to people who wrinkled their nose and pushed it away, and people who’ve taken a sip, thought, and then said ‘That is really rather good.’ I like it. It’s dark, woody and aromatic, with hints of leather, elderberries and apothecary shop. It could definitely moonlight as a Victorian tincture for some obscure disease. But though the taste is interesting, full of dark fruit with woody notes, you’re not drinking it so much for the flavour as for the effect. The makers claim the mix from Indian Ayurvedic medicine, and Western and traditional Chinese botanicals will create that sweet ‘two drink’ sense and induce relaxation and a sense of lightness. After a few sips, the Light Drinker team certainly became convivial and uplifted, and we all need that these days. It’s not cheap but if you’d like to feel jolly without taking on units, this might be the way forward.
Or this drink may well be available from your high street supplier – we’re sorry we cannot check them all but you might like to.
