Satisfyingly complex with a bit of a buzz
I’ve been intrigued by what Three Spirit, the brand behind this drink, have been doing from the very beginning. They recognise that drinking alcohol isn’t just about the taste, but also the effect – that pleasing buzz and increase of sociability that many people enjoy. They have created two alt-wine drinks that use adaptogens and nootropics which they claim will sharpen the mind and body and lift the mood. They source their ingredients carefully, and use fermentation processes, tannins and wine yeast to echo the mouthfeel and complexity of wines.
The result is a drink with a bright zesty acidity and a sharp, mineral taste that bursts in the mouth with a complexity of fruit and florals before mutating into a final chilli kick in the finish. It’s not sweet, but has the warm fruity and acidic hit of apricots and gooseberries, mellowed out by green florals. The tannins and yeasts circle the fruitiness, adding depth and chewiness to the aromatic blend. It’s a rich, full mouthful to enjoy slowly, just as you would a good wine.
Or this drink may well be available from your high street supplier – we’re sorry we cannot check them all but you might like to.
